Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that originated in England and is played between two teams of eleven players each. The game is played on a circular or oval-shaped field, with a rectangular 22-yard long pitch at the center. One team bats, attempting to score runs by hitting a ball bowled by the opposing team’s bowler, while the other team fields, aiming to limit runs and dismiss the batsmen.

The main objective of cricket is to score more runs than the opposing team. A run is scored when the batsmen successfully run between two sets of wickets located at each end of the pitch. Matches can be played in various formats, including Test matches (which last up to five days), One Day Internationals (50 overs per side), and Twenty20 (20 overs per side).

Cricket is governed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which oversees international competitions and the rules of the game. The sport is particularly popular in countries like India, Australia, England, Pakistan, and South Africa, and it has a passionate following worldwide.
