Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most parts of the world, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with a goal at each end. Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Matches are typically played in two 45-minute halves, with a 15-minute halftime break. The team that scores the most goals wins the match; if the score is tied, the result may sometimes go to extra time or a penalty shootout, depending on the competition’s rules. Soccer is recognized for its global popularity, played by millions around the world and featuring prestigious tournaments like the FIFA World Cup. The sport emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, and teamwork, making it a dynamic and exciting game.
